Hong Kong FA confirmed as institutional supporter of Soccerex China!

The Hong Kong Football Association will be lending its institutional support to the inaugural Soccerex China, April 17/18, Zhuhai using the event as a platform to promote the new national football training centre and the role of football in the overall development of the Guangdong, Hong Kong and MacaoGreater Bay Area (GBA).

The Hong Kong FA delegation will be led by Chief Executive Officer, Mark Sutcliffe who will be speaking about the governance and management reforms he has implemented since taking on the role.Mark was appointed in 2012 to see through the wide-ranging recommendations for improvement he put forward as a consultant to the Hong Kong government and the HKFA.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China Association will be inviting all its member clubs to attend and will also be showcasing the new football training centre with the Hong Kong FA’s Head of Football Department, Paul Woodland, joining a discussion around the importance of sustainable football facilities.

The development of The GBA is of strategic and economic importance for the Chinese government following its official inclusion in 13thFive-Year Plan (2016-20) outline, which was approved by the 12thNational People’s Congress in March 2016. Soccerex China will provide an opportunity to showcase the plans for football development across the region and the activities the different football authorities are undertaking to improve areas such as facilities, coaching and youth development – all key elements of China’s national football reform plan.

Commenting on the Hong Kong FA’s involvement, Soccerex Marketing Director, David Wright said: “With the importance of the Greater Bay Area to China’s overall strategic plans, it is fantastic to be able to call upon the support the Hong Kong FA for our inaugural Soccerex China event. I look forward to working with Mark and his team regarding their development plans and in particular their groundbreaking new football training centre.”

Hong Kong FA CEO Mark Sutcliffe said, “The hosting of a Soccerex event is a significant step for the development of football in China and is a great opportunity for the Hong Kong FA to showcase the significant steps we have taken over the past five years. I look forward to being part of it.”

The Hong Kong FA will be joining rights holders from across China and the rest of the world including top European clubs such as Real Madrid, Manchester United and FC Bayern Munich. They will be forming part of a two day conference programme that will provide the latest insight and expertise in subjects such as major event hosting, fan engagement and football development.
