Hyderabad FC go down to Mumbai City on tough night at the Maidaan!

Hyderabad FC were on the receiving end of a clinical performance in front of goal from league leaders Mumbai City FC at the Gachibowli Stadium on Monday.

Lallinzuala Chhangte (18’), Mehtab Singh (31’) and Jorge Pereyra Diaz (90’, penalty) found the back of the net for Mumbai, who opened a five-point gap at the top of the league table with this result.

But the game could have had a different scoreline even two minutes in, as a powerful run and cross from Rabeeh saw Ramhlunchhunga pull his shot just wide early in the game.

Chhunga, along with Makan Chothe and Rabeeh all had their chances but it was a clinical performance in front of goal that won the game for Mumbai City on the night.

Chhangte from a counter, Mehtab from a cross and Pereyra Diaz from the spot did not miss to give their side all three points.

Alex Saji put in a monstrous display at the back, alongside skipper Joao Victor at the back.

The duo put in heroic, goal-saving blocks and tackles, to keep Mumbai at bay.

Phurba Lachenpa was also forced into a few tough saves throughout the game but the lack of a seasoned goalscorer left Hyderabad chasing a tough task all night.

Hyderabad FC gave yet another young gun from their reserves a taste of Indian Super League football in this clash.

17-year-old Cris Nawong Sherpa came on late in the game for his top-flight debut in front of the Yellow and Black at the Maidaan.

The Nawabs will look to put this result behind them and put in a stronger performance against Manolo Marquez’s men when they travel to the Fatorda Stadium to take on FC Goa this Friday, April 5.
