Defending I-League champions Aizawl FC, who aren’t having the best of seasons, today announced the appointment of Santosh Kashyap as the new Head Coach for the senior team for the remainder of the season to replace Portuguese coach Paulo Menezes.
The former Mahindra United player comes with the experience of coaching at Mahindra United U-19, Air India, Mohun Bagan, ONGC, Rangdajied United FC, Royal Wahingdoh FC, Salgaocar FC, and Mumbai FC to The People’s Club who have to retain their spot in the I-League and play in the 2018 AFC Cup group stage.
The club said in a statement, “The 51 year old coach is one of the most experienced coaches in Indian Football, we are really happy to grab him and have high hopes in him as well.”
Santosh Kashyap said, “It is a proud moment for me. Joining a club in the middle of the season is a big challenge for me as well, so I’ll use my experience to try and do something great for the club.”
“We’ll plan one match at a time, and with the help of the fans and management we’ll give our best to put the club in a better atmosphere,” Kashyap added.
