I-League newcomers Chennai City FC have come out with a statement denying reports by the media that they have not been paying salaries to their players, which has resulted in problems within the team.
It has been a tough first few months for Chennai City FC as an I-League outfit as they had to assemble an I-League capable team at the last moment, fire their coach after a poor run of results and then rumours of discontent in the dressing room due to salary issues cropping up.
In an official statement issued to the media and on social media, Chennai City FC amongst other things wrote,
Chennai City Football Club would like to vehemently deny the story published in Times of India dated 21st February with the headlines “Revolt brewing in CCFC ranks” and that the players have not been paid their salaries.
The club would like to clarify that, payment for the players had been initiated on Friday 17th February.
