I-League: Chennai City FC name V. Soundararajan is their new Head Coach!

I-League newcomers Chennai City FC yesterday announced the appointment of V. Soundararajan as their new Head Coach with immediate effect. V. Soundararajan will serve as the head coach till the end of this season.

V. Soundararajan is an AFC Pro License degree holder, which he got degree in 2005 during a special AFC Coaching camp in Hennef, Germany along with new AIFF Technical Director Savio Medeira, Derrick Pereira and Hering Shangpliang from India.

The coach had then worked with the India Under-16 and Under-19 national sides from 2007 to 2011 apart from taking an unheralded Tamil Nadu side to the semifinals in the 2009 Santosh Trophy, while Soundararajan had tasted success as the man in charge of the Andhra Pradesh side in this season’s Santosh Trophy.

The 53-year-old Soundararajan has coached Southern Railways besides the Tamil Nadu state Santosh Trophy team on numerous occasions in the past.

His playing career has seen him turn out for Indian Railways and for Tamil Nadu in the Santosh Trophy.
