I-League: Trevor Morgan resigns as East Bengal Club head coach!

After a run of four defeats in the I-League in a row, East Bengal head coach Trevor James Morgan has sent his resignation letter to the club management which has been accepted.

On March 4, East Bengal had won 2-1 away to Shillong Lajong FC and were top of the I-League table, but since then the red and gold went on an unprecidented losing streak as they suffered defeats to Churchill Brothers SC (March 7), Chennai City FC (March 12), Mohun Bagan (April 9) and DSK Shivajians FC (April 16).

All were close encounters with East Bengal thrice losing 1-2 and losing 0-1 to DSK Shivajians only yesterday in matches except the derby which they could or actually should have won.

With East Bengal failing to win the NFL/I-League title for a 13th season running it also led to massive fan protests on Friday, April 14 which also led to shouts of ‘Morgan Out’, who in his first stint had been a fan favourite.

The 60 year old Trevor Morgan cuts short his second stint with East Bengal Club, whom he had first coached from 2010 to 2013 and now in the 2016/17 season.

But the wish and aims of finally lifting the NFL/I-League title has died again for the red and gold this season and Trevor Morgan is the first cusualty of the same.
