India U-16 Girls face tough South Korea test in final qualifier!

India U-16 GirlsThe Indian Under-16 Women’s National Team will face table toppers South Korea in their penultimate clash of the AFC Under-16 Championship qualifiers in Wei Fang, China tomorrow, September 5. The kick-off for which is at 1:30pm IST.

Both Teams come on the back of wins, and while South Korea thumped seven goals past Philippines in a one-sided 7-0 win, India went on to defeat Northern Mariana Islands 4-1; courtesy of a Soumya brace and strikes from Karishma and Renu.

Despite fostering numerous goal scoring chances and dominating possession, the scoreline for the Indian U-16 Girl against Northern Mariana Islands lacked gloss.

“We need to introspect and work hard on ourselves”, Maymol Rocky, Head Coach of the Indian U-16 Girls said on the sidelines of the Indian practice session reflecting on the 4-1 win against Northern Mariana Islands.

“Football is not always about winning and despite grabbing a win against Northern Mariana Islands we lacked in many departments.”

“We need to rectify our errors and work together as a unit if we are to give Korea Republic a tough fight”, she added.

“We became complacent against Northern Mariana Islands after scoring the first two goals and that is why we conceded.”

“We need to be on the top of our game throughout the course of the match and play to the best of our potential”, she pronounced.

South Korea are undefeated in the Qualifiers and have smashed 31 goals in 3 matches. It will be a test of credentials for the Indian U-16 Girls come tomorrow.

“South Korea are one of the best Teams in Women’s Football in the World and we have to be at our best if we are to fight them.”

“The Indian Team is yet to play to its full potential”, Maymol informed.

The Indian eves have grabbed two wins out of three matches in the Qualifiers and have only lost 0-2 to Philippines, despite dominating the match against them and fostering as many as five clear goal scoring chances.

“There is no room for error or complacency against Korea Republic. We have to take all the chances which come our way.”

“The onus is not only on the strikers or the defenders to perform, but on the whole Team to give their all on the pitch.”
