International Experts to discuss major event preparations at the Soccerex Asian Forum!

Experts in tournament delivery will discuss ‘Tournaments for All: Understanding & accounting for stakeholder needs in major event preparations’ at the Soccerex Asian Forum on December 4/5, 2017 in Qatar.

Major sporting events are the culmination of years of meticulous planning preparation, bringing together every part of the sporting eco-system for a spectacular celebration of sport and its values. To be deemed a success, a tournament must meet the varied needs of the many different stakeholders involved. From the teams and players participating to the officials and federations representatives managing the matches to the world’s media covering the event to the millions of fans watching the games live or at home, Local Organising Committees need to understand and cater for their differing needs and strike the right balance to ensure they all get what they want from the experience.

The Soccerex Asian Forum will unite senior industry figures with extensive knowledge of preparing for and delivering major sporting events to analyse the key stakeholder requirements that need to be accounted for in the different stages of tournament preparation and delivery. The panel will feature Hicham El Amrani, former General Secretary, Confederation of African football (CAF), Adrian Bevington, Owner of Adrian Bevington Sport & PR and veteran of nine major international tournament s with the FA and the Football Assocaition of Wales plus Hani Awni Al Hawamdeh, Chief Technical Officer of Arab Engineering Bureau (AEB) who are responsible for the design of the Al Thumama World Cup stadium in Qatar.

In his role as Secretary General at CAF, Hicham ran the administration and divisions, to improve the Confederation’s financial health and audit processes, while managing all development programs, events, general assemblies and competitions and was in charge of the delivery of all CAF Competitions. He managed to sign a landmark marketing deal, allowing the African Confederation to net a minimum guarantee of one billion US Dollars for its competitions up to 2024, a large increase valued at 150 million US Dollars. Hicham also undertook relationship management with key commercial and institutional partners to promote CAF development and ensure African football member associations do benefit from greater resources to develop grassroots football. He is currently Founder and Managing Director of HEA Sports Management & Consulting.

Adrian Bevington has over two decades of senior level sports administrative experience. He became Managing Director of the England National Football Team structure in 2010. This involved responsibility for all operations, logistics and budgets across 24 men and women’s teams. From 1998 to 2014, he held senior positions for 5 FIFA World Cup’s with England & 3 UEFA European Championships. He was also the Tournament Director for the UEFA Women’s Finals in 2013.
After leaving The FA, he was appointed as chief consultant/advisor to the Football Association of Wales for the year leading into Euro 2016. Adrian has established his own Sport & PR consultancy – Currently independent UK and Global consultant to clubs, associations, owners, and sports rights businesses.

Hani Awni Al Hawamdeh is the Chief Technical Officer at AEB and brings 27 years of diverse work experience in Architectural, Structural and Electro-Mechanical projects. With his effective forward planning Hani successfully lead and managed design and execution of some major projects at AEB, most notably the project for Qatar 2022 World Cup – Al Thumama stadium – and is currently in charge for delivering several TODs (Transient Oriented Developments) for the new Qatar Rail project. This session is part of a diverse programme of insight panels and presentations focused on the development of the football industry in Asia, tackling topics ranging from tournament delivery and digital fan engagement to maximising elite player performance as part of the Soccerex Asian Forum.
