ISL-3: Delhi Dynamos trash champions Chennaiyin FC 4-1!

delhi-dynamos-chennaiyin-fcThe Delhi Dynamos moved to the top of the Indian Super League – Season 3 standings with a 4-1 trashing of defending champions Chennaiyin FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday night.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 15th minute through Richard Gadze, who scored of a rebound after keeper Karanjit Singh could not hold on to a Florent Malouda shot. And it was the French marquee Malouda himself, who made it 2-0 in the 25th minute with his first ever ISL goal.

But Chennaiyin FC were not beaten just yet as their captain Bernard Mendy, also from France, scored with a placed shot after a solo effort in the 37th minute. It was 2-1 in favour of the Dynamos at half time.

In the second session the Delhi Dynamos sealed their three points and denied Chennaiyin FC of any comeback. First in the 54th minute Kean Lewis scored with a placed shot off a Malouda pass and then five minutes from time Malouda himself headed in Delhi’s fourth goal to seal a memorable match for himself with two goals and two assists, while it meant for the team that they go top of the ISL-3 standings with now 16 points.
