ISL-3: Kerala Blasters score a big 3-1 comeback win over Chennaiyin FC!

kerala-blasters-chennaiyin-fcThe Kerala Blasters FC scored their second comeback victory in a row this time a 3-1 win over defending champions Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League – Season 3 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Saturday night.

In the southern derby the guests from Chennai were the better side initially with chances to Jeje Lalpekhlua and Raphael Augusto before captain Bernard Mendy scored with a deflection of Sandesh Jhingan in the 22nd minute. Only minutes later a good ball was played through by Raphael to MacPherlin Dudu Omagbemi, he beat the defenders but his shot just went wide. The champions took the 1-0 lead into the break.

But things changed in the second session as the Blasters came out with intent to search for the equaliser. On the hour mark a deflected C.K. Vineeth cross had to be kept out by keeper Duwayne Kerr before Didier Kadio equalised in the 67th minute of an Antonio German pass.

At the other end Dudu continued to cause problems and his best chance of the half was deflected out for a corner before local boy C.K. Vineeth once again was the Kerala Blasters hero. First in the 85th minute keeper Kerr dropped a Josue cross under no pressure and C.K. Vineeth with a difficult volley placed the ball into the net and then a minute from time Antonio German found C.K. Vineeth free on the right and he placed the ball into the net past Kerr to give the Blasters a memorable 3-1 victory against their southern rival and defending champions.

Two big defeats in a row for Chennaiyin FC, who are without a win in five matches which increases the pressure for Marco Materazzi and his boys, but they showed last season that even being at the bottom of the table does not mean the end of the road with a lot of football still to be played.
