ISL-3: Kerala Blasters want to keep home form in semifinal against Delhi Dynamos!

The Kerala Blasters host the Delhi Dynamos in the first leg of the second semifinal of the Indian Super League – Season 3 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Sunday night and the Blasters will hope to extend their five match home winning run.

The Kerala Blasters had a bad start into the ISL, but with five home wins in a row, their finish was so strong that they finished second leap frogging above the Delhi Dynamos, who had been leaders in the middle of the ISL-3 campaign but couldn’t sustain their attacking form.

Speaking to the media ahead of the game, Kerala Blasters head coach Steve Coppell speaking about their rivals said, “They are very potent going forward and they throw a number of people going forward and that might leave them a bit vulnerable at the back…I think it will be difficult for Delhi to change their mentality and I think they will throw their men forward and will try to score goals against us and I don’t think that they will be conservative.”

“They are what they are and we are what we are and we certainly acknowledge that they have got some terrific players and I like to think that we have also got some terrific players…We have to play our game and not play according to their players and it is a double-edged sword as we have got to be adventurous but we also have to be disciplined and we have to get our patterns right,” Coppell added.

Meanwhile Delhi Dynamos head coach Gianluca Zambrotta said, “Playing for a draw is not my philosophy and we always try to win and we try to do our best and sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn’t, and to be attacking we have got to be compact and you have also got to pay attention to your opponent and Kerala is a very difficult team for us, so we have got to pay attention to them.”

“When I was a player I loved to attack and unfortunately, I did not score many goals, and I tried to give this mentality to my team that to attack you have got to run and you have got to have a good attitude as a team and that if you just attack, then you will be in trouble,” Zambrotta added.

The Blasters will hope to get a positive result tomorrow night, take it to Delhi and return to Kochi for next Sunday’s ISL-3 final.
