ISL-4: FC Goa sign Mark Sifneos to replace Adrian Colunga from Kerala Blasters!

Indian Super League franchise FC Goa sprung a surprise by signing former Kerala Blasters FC striker Mark Sifneos who penned a deal with the club till the end of the 2017/18 season just days after leaving the southern team.

The Dutchman, at 19 years of age is the youngest foreign player in ISL-4 and was the first goalscorer for his former team in this season of the ISL. The youngster already has four goals and an assist in the tournament and will be looking to add to that tally with the Gaurs who are the highest goalscorers of the tournament, having played only 10 games. Sifneos also scored a goal against the Gaurs when Kerala Blasters played FC Goa at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda.

The lanky Dutchman is a towering presence in the box and will be a threat to opposing teams at set pieces. His poaching instinct and ability to convert half chances will also help the Gaurs push for a place in the play off stage of the competition.

“The club is pleased to get Sifneos on board. He’s a player who has already proved his quality in the league this year with his goals and all round play. We hope he can continue to replicate those performances for us,” said an FC Goa official.

The Dutchman has been signed as a replacement for Spanish striker Adrian Colunga who put in a transfer request earlier in the season. FC Goa’s attempts to resolve the situation with Adrian came to no fruition and hence the decision to release the former Brighton and Hove Albion player was taken with Sifneos signed as a replacement.
