ISL-4: FC Goa win 3-0 at Jamshedpur FC to qualify for the semifinals!

The second last game of the ISL – Season 4 league stage was an indirect quarterfinal knockout match as Jamshedpur FC hosted FC Goa in a match-up between the two sides fighting it out for the final playoff spot with the guests from FC Goa winning 3-0 at the at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur on Sunday afternoon.

It was a must win match for Jamshedpur FC as they were a point behind FC Goa before kick-off but they had the worst possible start as in the 7th minute their goalkeeper Subrata Pal was send off for handling the ball outside of the box as he had to rush out to clear the ball ahead of a charging Ferran Corominas. Jamshedpur FC were now down to 10 men for most of the game with their dependable keeper off.

FC Goa went ahead in the 29th minute when Hugo Boumous found Seriton Fernandes free on the wing, whose ball into the middle was an easy tap-in for ISL-4 top scorer Ferran Corominas.

Jamshedpur FC’s only attempt of the first session came off Nigerian striker Izu Azuka, but it wasn’t a problem for FC Goa keeper Naveen Kumar to collect as his side went into the break with a one goal lead.

Things got even better for the Gaurs as Manuel Lanzarote found Ferran Corominas free in the 51st minute with the striker scoring past substitute keeper Sanjiban Ghosh to make it 0-2 for the guests.

After missing a few chances free flowing FC Goa sealed the fate of the game and their playoff qualification in the 69th minute when Manuel Lanzarote curled one in for FC Goa’s third.

The guests were also reduced to 10 men when their goalkeeper Naveen Kumar did something similar to what Subrata Pal did earlier in the match as he also proved that goalkeepers should stay in their box in the 75th minute.

In the end it didn’t make a difference as FC Goa convincing won 3-0 at Jamshedpur FC to seal the final semifinal spot in ISL-4.
