ISL-4: A five star FC Pune City trash NorthEast United FC!

A five star performance by home side FC Pune City allowed them to trash guests NorthEast United FC 5-0 at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune on Saturday night.

It often was as one-sided as the result would make one believe, but while FC Pune City scored five goals from five on goal attempts, NorthEast United FC scored none of six. That to an extend sums up the match and the ISL-4 campaign so far for both the teams.

The hosts went ahead in the 8th minute when youngster Ashique Kuruniyan scored off a deflected Emiliano Alfaro pass. NorthEast United FC could have equalised in the 23th minute off a Marcinho header but it only hit the woodwork and five minutes later at the other end, Marcelinho curled a free-kick to make it 2-0 for the hosts.

Just before half-time things got even worse for the Highlanders as their goalkeeper T.P. Rehenesh allowed a powerful shot from Marcelinho to go past him. 3-0 it stood for FC Pune City at the break.

At the start of the second session it was again an open game with chances at both ends. Then came the final 10 minutes and again domination by the hosts. In the 84th minute, Marcos Tebar found Marcelinho free on the left and the Brazilian made no mistake to complete his hattrick.

The final icing on the cake came just two minutes later as Adil Khan pocked one in inside the box. In the end FC Pune City won 5-0 against NorthEast United FC to move into second place in the ISL standings.
