Ivan Ordets to remain with VfL Bochum!

VfL Bochum 1848 has been able to agree on a further cooperation with Ivan Ordets. Thanks to the recently expanded FIFA special rule following the war in Ukraine, which allows foreign professionals under contract in Russia to join other clubs, Ordets will continue to play for VfL Bochum in the coming season.

In the 2022/23 season, the 1.95 m tall Ukrainian was one of the absolute top performers and made 33 competitive appearances for the Blue and Whites: 30 in the Bundesliga, three in the DFB Cup.

The 30-year-old defender is under contract with his original club FK Dinamo Moscow until June 30, 2024. Until that date, the extended FIFA Special Rule will also apply.

Marc Lettau, Technical Director of VfL Bochum 1848, is delighted with the contract extension, “Ivan Ordets was a key player in our team last season. His robustness, tackling and header strength helped us both defensively and offensively. He is a leader and should continue to give our defence support and stability in the future. We are happy that Ivan has decided to stay at VfL and that we will continue on our path together. His contract also includes the option of staying at VfL for two more years after the expiry of the special arrangement.”
