Jamshedpur FC & ATK Mohun Bagan face each other to decide ISL league shield!

Jamshedpur FC showed their prowess yet again when they took down another team in the league, Odisha FC, previously. Jamshedpur FC wreaked havoc on the Juggernauts with a dominant display of attacking football and a win with a large margin of 5-1 in their second last game of the league stage.

With another strong victory registered in their campaign, the Men of Steel will now set their eyes on the most crucial game of the league stage in the club’s history tonight as they go head-to-head against ATK Mohun Bagan in the final league stage game of this season.

Previously the two squads shared the same pitch in the current season in the month of December, 2021, as Jamshedpur FC came out as the stronger side to register their first home victory. The Men of Steel looked focused and dangerous as they opened their account to take the lead in the first half as Len Doungel scored his first goal of the season with a brilliant side netting finish.

The game went to get intense by the minute as no goals were scored by either of the squads till the end. Just after which the Jamshedpur side doubled their slim lead in the final minutes of the game with Alex Lima making an instant impact after getting subbed on. The Mariners also tried to get back into the game as they scored one for themselves as well in the final two minutes and attempted to score another to end the game in a stalemate but the Jamshedpur defensive line-up made sure that the game ended in their favour.

Since their last encounter, the squads went on to have plenty of success in their campaign as Jamshedpur FC kept rising in the league table with big wins and a couple of losses but they didn’t let it affect their run as they established themselves as a regular in the top 4. On the other hand, ATK Mohun Bagan made a couple of changes and even brought in a new coach, Juan Ferrnando from FC Goa to lead their squad ahead in the league. They’ve headed in an upward trajectory ever since as they haven’t lost a game after their defeat against Jamshedpur FC and went on to register an impressive 15 games unbeaten streak which helped them make their way into the final 4 and one of the top contenders for the ISL shield. Owen Coyle is going to push for a solid two-pointer win and knows they will have to fight tooth and nail for it.

“We know that we’re about to play some wonderful opponents who have fantastic individual players and an outstanding team who have been on such a long unbeaten streak. It’s the best they’ve ever played in the league and full credit to them for that. We have a chance of finishing in the #1 position and so does ATK Mohun Bagan, so we want to see it through and go on to give our best performance because if we do that, then we know we can win such a tough game I feel it’s going to be 2 teams with different scenarios but two very wonderful clubs in their own respective skills. We’ll be doing everything in our power to make sure we win the game for Jamshedpur FC.”

The two attacking titans have the most crucial game ahead of them as the result of this game could possibly create history for the two sides. Both teams are going head-to-head to fight for the prestigious ISL league shield in the final game of the league stage. The two sides have fought their way through thick and thin with the aim of achieving something tangible out of the competitive season that they had and this is one of the best opportunities that the sides will have to accomplish that goal this year. But the shield winner won’t be just determined by a side’s victory as the catch here is that the Mariners must defeat the Men of Steel by a margin of two goals or more to win the League Winners’ Shield, since the former has a better head-to-head record than the latter, having lost 2-1 to Jamshedpur FC earlier this season. On the other hand, the Men of Steel have a straightforward route to the Shield as Owen Coyle’s lads will lift the shield with a victory or a draw and have to make sure they don’t lose the game with a difference of 2 goals or more.

The two squads consisting a perfect mixture of both young attacking players as well as experienced game changers will put everything on the line to be the club which makes history and lifts the coveted ISL League Shield tonight. As the two clubs will look to bring their best available squads to the pitch to take the advantage over the other, both sides do have a few key players missing as ATK Mohun Bagan have David Williams and Hugo Boumous are currently recovering from their injuries. On the other hand, Jamshedpur have their local lad and their young playmaker in the middle of the pitch missing as Mobashir Rahman has been given a 2 game suspension in their clash against Hyderabad FC. Despite the missing elements in their line-ups, the two fiery squads will leave no stone unturned to dominate the 90 minutes and have the game in their favour at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao.
