Jamshedpur FC eyes win at Mumbai City FC in their first ISL-9 away game!

Jamshedpur FC did not have the desired season opener against Odisha FC in match week 1 of the Indian Super League 2022-23. After taking an early two-goal lead in the first 10 minutes at the Furnace, Jamshedpur FC looked like the clear winners of the game. But Odisha FC had other plans as they managed to make a successful comeback to take away all three points. The game ended with a 2-3 win for the visitors.

The Aidy Boothroyd-managed side now looks forward to bagging their first win as they face the Islanders in the next challenge. Jamshedpur FC faces Mumbai City FC on October 22, 5:30pm at the Mumbai Football Arena.

The last season of ISL saw Jamshedpur FC go on to win the League winner’s shield in a record-breaking feat. On the other hand, Mumbai City FC made history when they became the first ISL side to bag the double, the shield, and the trophy in the 2020-21 season.

Jamshedpur FC Head Coach, Aidy Boothroyd will be leading the team in his first ISL away game in India. Both sides have faced each other on 10 occasions so far in the ISL. Out of which Jamshedpur has walked out victorious in five of them while six games ended as a draw. Last season, Jamshedpur FC lost the very first fixture while they went on to win the second one against Mumbai City.

With the ISL going back to its original format and the fans making their return to the stadiums to back their sides, the Jamshedpur FC squad will be playing in an away game in front of the away crowd for the first time in two years which poses as one of the biggest challenges.

While Mumbai City FC have won a game and drawn one in their last two games. Jamshedpur is yet to play their second game and also register a victory. So, the Men of Steel will step on the pitch at Mumbai with the goal of grabbing the first winning points of the season.

Both sides have had major changes to their overall squad compared to the last season. The main spotlight is on former Jamshedpur FC player and top scorer, Greg Stewart who is now part of the Islanders squad and will be playing against his former team.

Thus It is expected to be a thrilling game of football between the former shield winners when they go toe-to-toe at the Mumbai Football Arena on 22nd October at 5:30pm.
