Jamshedpur FC host ATK Mohun Bagan for their final ISL-9 home game!

After putting up another dominant performance to churn out their second away win of the season, Jamshedpur FC head coach Aidy Boothroyd is optimistic ahead of the upcoming home game against ATK Mohun Bagan.

The Gaffer opined, “We’ve enjoyed the days after the win against NorthEast, I thought we were excellent and really happy with the performance of the team. It was a well deserved 2-0 and could have been more but we quickly put our focus on to the next game against ATKMB where it was probably one of our best performances. Our season began to turn and we have played really well since then and I think overall we can be happy with the turnaround and I’m very pleased with it,” as he shared his thoughts in the pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s game at the Furnace.

The Men of Steel headed out to Guwahati and took control of the game against the Highlanders as forwards, Ritwik Das and Chima Chukwu found the back of the net to award their side all the points away from home. Now, they tread back home to face ATK Mohun Bagan for their next fixture in the ISL.

This reverse fixture against the Mariners will be the last home game that the Men of Steel will play in front of their home crowd this season.

Speaking on the upcoming challenge at home, Aidy further said, “I don’t want the season to end. I’m very pleased with how things are going at the moment. Really pleased with this gentleman next to me (Ricky), I think he’s been outstanding so it’s good he’s here today but we want to play as many games as possible and get back to winning on top of our performances which will come. We want to keep playing well and keep winning.”

Jamshedpur FC and ATK Mohun Bagan have faced each other in five matches in Indian Super League. Out of these four games, Jamshedpur FC have walked out victorious in three of those meetings whereas ATK Mohun Bagan have won on two occasions.

In their previous fixture, the Saltlake Stadium saw a tightly contested fixture as none of the sides scored till the very end of the 90 minutes. A foul within the box by former skipper, Peter Hartley awarded the hosts, ATK Mohun Bagan a late penalty. Hugo Boumous converted from the spot to give the Mariners all the points at the end of the night.

At the moment, Jamshedpur FC are placed 10th in the league table while ATK Mohun Bagan have dropped down to the 5th position in the league table after suffering a defeat in their previous game.

Riding on the back of the winning momentum from the previous away victory, the Men of Steel will aim to keep gathering as many points as possible in their final few fixtures. With the Jamshedpur FC squad playing their last game at the Furnace of the 2022-23 season, the squad’s main objective from the game will be to put on a winning performance and deliver a memorable night at the Steel City for their home crowd.

The squad led by Juan Ferrando will seek to recover from their loss and acquire the winning points to stay in contention for the playoffs spot. On the other hand, Jamshedpur FC will do everything in their power to keep the visitors from grabbing the winning points and give them a tough fight away from their home.

Watch Jamshedpur FC take on ATK Mohun Bagan tomorrow, at 7:30pm at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.
