Jamshedpur FC pick up 2-2 draw against FC Goa at the Furnace!

Jamshedpur FC broke their seven game losing streak by picking up a 2-2 draw against FC Goa at the Furnace on Thursday night.

The Men of Steel made a few changes in personnel for this game, but perhaps the biggest change was in their formation, with a 3-5-2 style chosen against FC Goa.

The formation seemed to work wonders from the opening whistle as Jamshedpur FC roared forward and bossed the first quarter of an hour.

Daniel Chima was played in by Rafael Crivellaro in the 20th minute, but Dheeraj Singh was equal to the effort from close range.

Around ten minutes later, however, a Crivellaro corner was headed towards goal by Jay-Emmanuel Thomas, with Iker Guarrotxena the unfortunate man to get the final touch into his own goal.

The lead was well deserved but it seemed to wake the away side up, who got their equaliser in the 38th minute. A cross from the left was turned home by none other than Guarrotxena, who atoned for his own Goal by heading into the right net this time.

The second half started in just as scintillating fashion and the hosts went a goal up once again.

Former FC Goa striker Ishan Pandita pounced on a poor back pass in the 50th minute to reach the ball before Dheeraj and tapped the ball home to make it 2-1.

Crivellaro had a golden opportunity to double the advantage in the 68th minute as he found himself in front of goal with just a crowd of bodies on the line to beat, but his shot was cleared just in time by the Gaurs’ defence.

Just when it looked like the Men of Steel were going to win, Guarrotxena stepped up and fired a shot past Vishal Yadav to equalise right at the death.

The game ended 2-2 but Jamshedpur FC were successful in ending their long losing streak and getting back on the way up ahead of a short Christmas break.
