Jamshedpur FC score 4-1 thumping victory over Chennaiyin FC!

After taking down Mumbai City FC in their previous game, the Men of Steel were ready to get back into action for an outing at the Tilak Maidan to clash with Chennaiyin FC for a quick turnaround fixture after their last game.

The encounter was kicked-off by the Men of Steel as they bombarded Chennaiyin FC with numerous charges towards their goal but the Marina Machans were solid in their defence to block and clear away every opportunity the Jamshedpur FC side came in with.

Jamshedpur FC knocked on Chennaiyin’s door right from the start, taking complete control of the ball possession and broke their deadlock from a corner set-piece after their hard work on the attacking end as Greg Stewart stepped up to take the corner and lobbed it deep into the box. Chennaiyin FC’s defence tried to clear it on the line after Peter Hartley headed it into the middle of the box. Ritwik Das noticed the ball in the air after the deflection and tapped it into the back of the net just a few yards from the goal line thus giving Jamshedpur the lead.

With the lead in hand, Jamshedpur FC still kept their attacks towards the Chennaiyin FC side of the pitch rampant and extended their lead just 10 minutes later as Greg Stewart took the ball from the middle of the pitch and dribbled his way into the box through the line of defenders and slipped a low cross in towards Boris Singh who was on his run. As he met the ball in the middle of the box, Boris slotted the ball in to make it 2 for the Men of Steel. Owen Coyle’s men did not stop there as they put in their 3rd goal of the night just a few minutes later. Eli Sabia from the middle of the pitch headed a lobbed ball towards Chima who was on his run towards the goal as he took a touch, made a body feint to mislead the defenders to the wrong side and finished the play with a clean bottom corner finish to give Jamshedpur FC a comfortable lead over the Marina Machans in the first 45 minutes of the game.

The second half began with another positive for Jamshedpur FC as a shot from Greg Stewart from outside the box deflected off a Chennaiyin FC defender and slipped into the goal which turned out to be another blow to the Marina Machans as they were now 4 goals to nothing down, half way through the game. The Men of Steel looked compact at the back and braved in the attacking third as they left no stone unturned in their strong approach and kept their hunt for more goals on while they also kept the Chennaiyin FC side at bay. The home side finally got some hope for themselves as they scored their first goal of the game with a shot from outside the box which was successfully parried away to safety by Rehenesh. Unfortunately the ball landed at the former Jamshedpur FC striker, Nerijus Valskis’ foot as he made a powerful shot on target which could not be fully blocked away by the Jamshedpur shot stopper and the ball hit the net to give Chennaiyin FC their first goal of the night.

70 minutes in and the score was already 4-1 as Jamshedpur FC rained down chances and shots to take their tally higher than it already was but the Chennaiyin FC backline did not make any mistakes to keep the side from conceding more goals. The remainder of the game’s duration was an intense clash between the two sides with multiple fouls, yellow cards from the official and substitutions made to take the thrilling clash to the next level. A couple of opportunities were created by both sides but no chances were finished into the back of the net as the game ended with a thumping victory to the Men of Steel.

After an exhilarating 90 minutes at the Tilak Maidan, the Jamshedpur FC side registered their 3rd consecutive victory after and were in a stunning form to take the winning points in all 3 games after their last loss as they moved up the table to the second position with just one point away from the table toppers, Hyderabad FC and one game in hand.
