Jamshedpur FC score convincing win over FC Goa!

Jamshedpur FC commenced the game from the spot with high hopes and energy to dominate from the very start with an attack from the flank being lobbed into the box, but was caught by the keeper of FC Goa. Jamshedpur FC were aggressive from the very beginning and almost took the desired early lead from a short corner; Komal got the ball and took a shot on target which landed in the back of the net. Unfortunately, the goal was called offside by the official, thus keeping the scorecard at 0-0. Despite the attacking attempt from Jamshedpur FC, FC Goa heavily dominated the possession and kept the ball to themselves to deny Jamshedpur any chances at scoring.

The intensity of the game rose with every minute passing by as multiple harsh tackles and fouls were committed on both halves of the pitch. Jamshedpur threatened the Gaurs with high pressure up the pitch and shots on target, but all attempts were defended and denied by FC Goa’s alert goalkeeper. Nerka was in a full attack mode tonight, with Len and Komal supplying him crosses from the flanks, who unleashed shots on the FC Goa’s goal, but the hosts were successful in keeping the ball out of the net at every opportunity Jamshedpur created to score. The first 45 minutes of the game concluded with the scorecard seeing no goals with the players looking forward to taking their team to the lead in the next half.

The second half kicked-off at the Athletic Stadium and FC Goa did not waste any time to take the lead as they unleashed two quick paced attacks at the Jamshedpur end, but TP Rehenesh stood his ground to deny the hosts from taking the lead. After just 10 minutes into the second half, Jamshedpur earned themselves the lead that they strived for as a build-up attack from the middle was laid off to Valskis who slotted it in the back of the net with a clean bottom corner finish. With a goal in hand, Jamshedpur did not back down just yet as they came forward to double their lead with another goal 10 minutes after the first goal. The Scottish Premiership winner, Greg Stewart, whipped in a ball into the box from a free-kick which connected to Valskis’ head and bounced into the back of the net, thus taking Jamshedpur into a bigger lead.

Down with 2 goals, FC Goa stepped up their attacking game and pushed forward on the pitch looking to come back into the game, but they were denied at every occasion. When the game reached its 80th minute mark, Greg Stewart was subbed off and Jordan Murray made his way into the pitch to make an instant impact to the game with a goal within seconds of getting subbed on. Valskis chipped the ball into the box from a freekick set-piece when Jordan ran inside the box and flicked the ball into the back of the net, taking the Men of Steel into a whopping lead of 3-0. Even though the Gaurs conceded 3 goals in the second half, they did not back down as one of the attacks from the hosts finally broke their drought, after a clean finish from Airan Cabrera from the middle of the box made it into the back of the net.

With the 2 goal lead, Jamshedpur were still hungry for more and kept pushing to convert chances into goals in the extra time, but FC Goa’s defence made sure that they did not concede any more goals to bring an end to the competitive battle fought on the pitch.

The Jamshedpur squad walked away with a number of positives from the game as they grabbed their first winning 3 points of the season to shoot up to the top of the table while staying undefeated at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim.
