Kerala Blasters to relaunch Young Blasters Sporthood Academy in January 2021!

Kerala Blasters FC has announced the relaunch of the Young Blasters Sporthood Academy, in partnership with Sporthood. The centres are scheduled to resume all Young Blasters grassroots level activities in January 2021, after a break of nine months.

The break on all academies was imposed due to restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, during this period, the team effectively developed a curriculum with sessions that can be provided to the kids, abiding by all COVID-19 protocols advised for community sports activities. The curriculum focuses on teaching students both the technical and tactical aspects of football as well as ensures that students at different locations are receiving a standardized lesson plan that has been approved by the central coaching team of the club. Coaches at all locations are certified and trained by Kerala Blasters and the Sporthood Academy to ensure holistic development of all students, who are enrolled to the program.

Kids, both boys and girls, from ages 5 -15 years can be a part of the academy and will be allotted different time slots for their coaching, basis the maximum number of students that can be accommodated in a batch. Parents can track their child’s lesson plans for a particular day through the Sporthood app that is available on both the iOS and Android platforms. This advanced technology brought to the field by Sporthood ensures that the progress of each child is tracked at a session level and will be available for the scouting team of Kerala Blasters FC as well on a real time basis.

“We are extremely excited to announce the relaunch of our Young Blasters Sporthood Academy for promising talents across the state. Although the program was delayed due to restrictions imposed by the global pandemic, the team is now geared up to restart activities ensuring quality not just in the coaching process and the technical aspects of the game but also in maintaining adequate safety and security of every child who has been enrolled to the program. We look forward to a wonderful year ahead,” said Mohammed Rafik, Director of Football, Kerala Blasters FC.

“The focus of Young Blasters Sport hood Academies is to identify talent at a young age and devise a proper development path for them. With the advantage of a technology-enabled grassroots platform, we’ll be able to successfully implement this for kids of all age groups irrespective of their training locations. The platform is equally accessible to students, parents and coaches and ensures that a standard curriculum is followed across centres. The progress of all kids can be tracked real-time by both parents and the senior coaching staff of Kerala Blasters to objectively scout talented youngsters over a longer period of time,” said Arun V Nair, Co-founder of Sporthood.

In the first phase of the relaunch, the initiative is available in 4 districts – Trivandrum, Ernakulam, Malappuram and Kozhikode. Kerala Blasters and Sporthood intends to extend their reach in other districts as well in future.
