LALIGA, the National Police, RFEF & AEMEF discuss measures necessary to deal with in stadiums incidents!

LALIGA, the National Sports Office of the National Police, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the Spanish Association of Football Team Doctors (AEMEF) met on Tuesday to examine incidents that take place in professional football stadiums, especially those affecting the public, and their impact on the running of matches.

Progress has been made on a coordination protocol between the UCO (Organisational Control Unit) and the refereeing team, both for incidents occurring on the field of play, those which take place in the stands, and even incidents outside the stadiums that affect the inside of the venue. The aim is to maintain a safe environment for fans and players, and ensure a rapid and effective response from the various professionals present: Law enforcement agencies, medical services, private security personnel, etc.

Additionally, the existing protocol against violence, racism, xenophobia and intolerance in football, which was inspired by the FIFA protocol, was reviewed in order to highlight the steps to be followed from now on when faced with events of this nature and how each step should be applied and communicated: Stoppage of the match, temporary suspension and permanent suspension.

The institutions involved are preparing a final document with the procedures to be followed in each case, and this will be made available as soon as possible.
