The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) today celebrated their fifth batch of Football Management Diploma (FMD) graduates, who are now firmly on the path towards achieving management excellence.
The 41 graduates successfully completed the 11-month online programme by putting in 460 hours of study time over 12 bespoke modules that further emphasise the AFC’s commitment towards developing skilful and capable future leaders of Asian football.
These modules encompass the Organisation of World Football, International Sports Federations, Strategic Management, Financial Management, Income Generation, Media & Communications, Event Management, Operational Management, HR Management, Child Safeguarding & Social Responsibility, Sports Law and Club Licensing.
Designed to boost problem-solving, decision-making and analytical skills, the graduates were presented with a broader understanding of how football management affects and shapes the Asian game through a comprehensive series of online lectures, quizzes, discussions and insightful presentations.
Coming from middle and senior management positions in the AFC’s Member Associations (MAs), Regional Associations (RAs) and independent stakeholders, the graduates can now direct their energy and talent to create a positive impact to their respective organisations and subsequently to the global football community.
“Although I am quite well versed in football management, the FMD turned out to be a profoundly enriching experience for me,” said Yin Marady, Head of Administration at the Football Federation of Cambodia. “I am grateful for the learning opportunities provided and aim to put my new capabilities to enhance my current position.”
Alaa Almulhem, Head of Club Affairs Department at the Syrian Football Association said: “The FMD has redefined my approach to management, particularly in understanding how good leadership can move the game forward. From strategic planning to social responsibility, each module was a treasure trove of valuable insights, and I hope to use them to advance football management regionally.”
AFC Deputy General Secretary – Member Associations, Vahid Kardany said: “I urge our graduates to use their knowledge for the betterment of world football, and diligently overcome all challenges to become role models for the following generations to emulate.
“The FMD was designed particularly to maximise the full potential of its participants, so I have no doubt that we will be hearing of our graduates’ great achievements in the future. I wish them success as they continue to grow and develop themselves professionally.”
The programme is part of the educational offerings from the AFC’s Academic Centre of Excellence. Launched in November 2021, the FMD has grown to become a much-desired qualification for those seeking to reach the pinnacle of football management.
