Manchester City announce latest digital art collection: Space Ballers!

Manchester City has announced Space Ballers, its seventh collaborative digital art drop, created by Jonathan Nash.

Following the success of Manchester City’s existing digital art collections, the upcoming collection continues to showcase the Club’s innovative and creative approach, as it builds its presence and collector community in the NFT space.

Space Ballers, created by Jonathan Nash, comprises one unique design.

The piece depicts City astronauts honing their skills in an extra-terrestrial training facility, on their way to the blue moon.

The artwork captures football training in a fun and creative way whilst highlighting the precision and passion behind City’s playing style.

As part of the drop, there will be an exclusive collectors’ draw. Owners of artwork by Manchester City or Jonathan Nash will be eligible and the winners of the draw will each receive one of the unique pieces.

The Space Ballers artwork will drop on MakersPlace on Tuesday, April 25 at 8:30pm BST.

Nuria Tarré, Chief Marketing and Fan Experience Officer at City Football Group said: “We are excited to be launching our unique Space Ballers piece, following the success of our International Women’s Day collection.”

“This landmark digital artwork continues to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the NFT space, and shows our eagerness to continue to collaborate with prominent talented creators.”

“Jonathan’s signature style, combined with Man City IP, has created an outstanding and fun digital artwork, and we’re very pleased to have been able to collaborate with him.”

Craig Palmer, CEO at MakersPlace, said: “MakersPlace has worked with both Manchester City and Jonathan Nash for many years. Manchester City was the first football club to launch NFTs on MakersPlace and continues to be a market innovator.”

“Jonathan Nash is a unique and highly respected NFT creator. We couldn’t be more excited to represent the amazing digital artwork they’ve created through this collaboration.”

Jonathan Nash, who has produced the collection, added: “Being a massive football fan, it was an honour to collaborate with one of the biggest clubs in the world for the Space Ballers drop.”

“I wanted to take a fun approach to what a training facility in space could look like, combining football training drills with pinball elements, to create a satisfying loop.”

NFTs are digital assets and collectibles. The authenticity, rarity, scarcity, ownership, and other properties of NFTs are independently guaranteed, verified, and secured on the blockchain.

Unlike most digital content, which is temporarily provided as a service to users on a licensing basis, NFTs are truly ownable.

An NFT is owned by its holder regardless of any decisions taken by any other party, including the NFT’s developer.

Owners are free to do anything they want with their NFTs: they can sell them on a marketplace or trade them for other items.

Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) are not regulated instruments in the UK. The value of NFTs can go up as well as down. Capital Gains Tax may be payable on the sale of NFTs.
