Manchester City concludes Global Trophy Tour in India with Citylive! at Kolkata!

Reigning EPL Champions Manchester City brought its silverware to three cities in India from November 16 to 24 to celebrate with fans as part of the final stop on its global trophy tour, presented by Etihad Airways. The Trophy Tour is part of a club celebration after making football history by becoming the first English football club to lift six domestic trophies: The Premier League, The FA Cup, The Community Shield, The Carabao Cup, The Women’s FA Cup and The FA WSL Continental Cup, across both its men’s and women’s teams in the same season.

Club legend and former City centre-back, Micah Richards, who made 246 appearances between 2005–2014 and won three trophies during his time at City, accompanied the silverware in Mumbai and Kolkata for a series of exciting fan and community activities.

City hosted their final event CityLive!, a match day screening party that witnessed hundreds of fans turn up to watch City beat Chelsea 2-1. Fans at the CityLive! were treated to a match analysis by club legend Micah Richard’s as well as exclusive giveaways and the chance to win the Clubs jersey signed by the player himself.

Commenting on his experience in India, Micah Richards, City Legend said, “My time in Mumbai and Kolkata has been unreal. The fans I’ve met have been so passionate – one fan even travelled 16 hours to be with us. Thank you so much to all the fans and City’s young leaders from the Goals for Life project for making the final stop on City’s Trophy Tour so special.”

One of the key highlights of the Trophy Tour, supported locally by Rexona and TECNO mobile, was to give fans an immersive fan experience that was modelled to look like the home dressing room at the Etihad Stadium, giving fans in India a chance to experience the excitement of a City match day.

Commenting on the association, Arijeet Talapatra, CEO, TRANSSION India said, “Our association with the prestigious Champions Club embodies perfection, excellence and passion to succeed beyond limitations is the hallmark for both of us. We are delighted to collaborate with Manchester City India Trophy Tour as Mobile Photography partner celebrating a highly successful season and gear up for a much bigger success in the coming year. Through this strategic partnership that highlights our global as well as local ambitions, we are committed to further strengthen our relationship with the Indian consumers, fans, and the elite football club.”

The Trophy Tour was an opportunity for fans across Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata to get up close and personal with their favourite club whilst also allowing the club to further its global community work through the Goals for Life project in Mumbai. Delivered in partnership with OSCAR Foundation and supported by Club technology partner Cisco, Micah Richards and the trophies visited Young Leaders from the Goals for Life project in Mumbai. The Goals for Life project aims to enable Young Leaders to empower the lives of children in their community by using football to instil the value of education amongst participants and their families.
