Marcin Kaminski to remain with FC Schalke 04!

A 2022 promotion hero is staying with the Royal Blues: Centre-back Marcin Kaminski has extended his contract by one year until summer 2024. The deal includes a performance-related option to extend it by an additional year.

“Marcin is an experienced Bundesliga and second-division defender, who has already achieved promotion to the top flight on three occasions,” said Peter Knäbel, board member for sport. “He truly identifies with Schalke and has already demonstrated how important he is both on and off the pitch.”

Schalke 04 head coach Thomas Reis is also happy that the 31-year-old has penned a new deal: “Marcin brings real defensive quality and versatile build-up play. He has a lot of experience and can deal with pressure very well. All of that will help us in the coming season.”

“Schalke was my first port of call regarding my future. I have always said how much I feel at home here and that I would like to stay. I’m really happy that we’ve been able to make that happen,” said Marcin Kaminski. “I know that a challenging season lies ahead of us, but I’m 100 percent committed to taking this journey.”

The defender joined the Royal Blues from VfB Stuttgart in summer 2021 and helped the club to Bundesliga promotion in 2022. He has made a total of 63 top-flight appearances and another 63 in the second tier. Kaminski scored two goals in the Bundesliga this season, coming against Hertha BSC and RB Leipzig.
