Marco Rose to leave Borussia Mönchengladbach for Borussia Dortmund!

In one of the worst kept secrets of German football was made public on Monday with Borussia Mönchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund confirming that head coach Marco Rose will leave Gladbach for Dortmund.

44 year old Leipzig-born Marco Rose will leave Borussia Mönchengladbach at the end of the ongoing season to become the new head coach of Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund from July 1, 2021 onwards.

For the last few weeks there has been speculations that Marco Rose is looking to potentially make the switch with Dortmund looking for an experienced head coach to replace the young Edin Terzic at BVB after he had moved up from assistant coach following the firing of Lucien Favre. All matches with best odds could be found on melbet. And then these two clubs will face each other in the DFB German Cup in early-March 2021.

Borussia Mönchengladbach’s sporting director Max Eberl said, “In the past few weeks, we have held a lot of discussions with Marco about his future. Unfortunately, Marco has decided that he would like to exercise a clause in his contract, which was due to expire in June 2022, and move to Borussia Dortmund in the summer. Therefore, Marco will no longer be available to us after the end of the season should the conditions set out in his contract be met on time. Until then, we will do everything in our power together with Marco to achieve this seasons’s goals in the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League.”

Meanwhile Borussia Dortmund in an official statement said, “The focus for BVB is on the current season and reaching sporting goals in the Bundesliga, the UEFA Champions League and DFB Cup.”

“With respect towards all parties involved, Borussia Dortmund after today will not comment on expectations regarding the sporting future under the leadership of Marco Rose until the season 2020/2021 has been completed.”

In 2009, Rose had a short spell as Thomas Tuchel’s assistant at 1.FSV Mainz 05, before he began his coaching career as Martin Schmidt’s assistant with the Mainz U-23s in July 2010. After two years with Mainz 05 reserves, he moved to regional league side 1.FC Lokomotive Leipzig to begin his first head coach role. In 2013/14, Rose took over RB Salzburg’s U-16s and was promoted to the U-18s two years later. Another two years later, Rose led the U-19s to 2017 UEFA Youth League success before taking over the first team. He stayed with Salzburg before moving to Mönchengladbach in 2019.

Before becoming a coach, Marco Rose played for VfB Leipzig, Hannover 96 and 1.FSV Mainz 05.
