Max Moerstedt extends TSG Hoffenheim contract until 2027!

TSG Hoffenheim have tied 18-year-old top talent Max Moerstedt to the club on a long-term deal. The contract of the reigning FIFA U-17 World Cup winner has been prematurely extended until June 30, 2027.

“We have a clear plan for Max, who is also willing to take this path with us step by step. It was with total conviction that we integrated him into first-team training on a permanent basis in January this year. He is gaining the competitive experience that is indispensable at his age with our U-19s, who are currently leading the Bundesliga South/South-West table, not least because of Max’s 14 goals. But he’s already impressing in the first-team training sessions too,” said TSG Managing Director Alexander Rosen of the exceptional talent, adding: “This personnel decision once again exemplifies what TSG stands for – namely progression through the ranks, very good training in our own academy and the courage to integrate young players like Max into the senior squad and introduce them to the Bundesliga. We will accompany his development with care and push it forward with determination.”

“At just 18 years old, Max already possesses incredible skills and an exciting overall package. Although he is already putting in impressive performances and proving his goal-scoring instinct over and over, his development is by no means complete. He has a lot of potential and we’re sure that we will be able to fully realise this with him. He will have the opportunity to continue his development in a calm environment with us,” remarked Pirmin Schwegler, Head of Professional Football at TSG Hoffenheim.

“I’m really pleased about the trust shown in me and the years ahead at TSG,” said Max Moerstedt of his premature contract extension in the Kraichgau. “Not only do I really enjoy the daily training work with the first team, I also learn an incredible amount every day and I can’t imagine a better environment for a young player’s development.”

Max Moerstedt joined the TSG Hoffenheim academy in the summer of 2021. His permanent integration into the TSG first-team squad means there are now a total of 10 players in the current Hoffenheim team that have come through the club’s own youth ranks – Grischa Prömel, Dennis Geiger, Maximilian Beier, Tom Bischof, Umut Tohumcu, Bambasé Conté, Marco John, goalkeepers Luca Philipp and Nahuel Noll and now Max Moerstedt. That’s the most in the league. In the current U19 Bundesliga Süd/Südwest campaign, the Mannheim native has scored 14 goals and notched two assists in 12 appearances. The 18-year-old striker has made 20 appearances for Hoffenheim in the U19s (20 goals / 3 assists), played four DFB-Pokal games at junior level (6 goals / 2 assists) and featured in 28 matches for the U17s in the Bundesliga Süd/Südwest (22 goals / 10 assists). Moerstedt last year helped the Germany U17 national team become world champions and has made 23 appearances for the DFB Juniors coached by Christian Wück. He has scored 10 goals in the process.
