Melbourne City hammer Kerala Blasters 6-0 in LaLiga World opener in Kochi!

Australian A-League side Melbourne City FC hammered Indian Super League franchise Kerala Blasters FC 6-0 in the opening match of the Toyota Yaris LaLiga World tournament, India’s first pre-season tournament, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Tuesday, July 24 evening.

Dario Vidosic opened the scoresheet in the 30th minute, when he headed home a Luke Brattan cross. The visitors increased their lead three minutes, as Riley McGree’s shot from the edge of the area beat Blasters debutant goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem.

Melbourne City used the second half to give some playing time to the youngsters in their squad. The changes didn’t impinge City’s performance as they continued to play their powerful football.

Lachlan Wales (50′), Ramy Najjarine (75′), Bruno Fornaroli (79′) and a second to McGree (56′) sealed a 6-0 win for the Melbourne City.

The Toyota Yaris LaLiga World tournament will continue on Friday, July 27 with Girona FC taking on Melbourne City FC, while the LaLiga side face hosts and Indian Super League club Kerala Blasters on Saturday, July 28 in the final game of the Toyota Yaris LaLiga World tournament.
