Minerva Punjab FC clears players dues ahead of Super Cup!

Director Henna Bajaj of I-League champions Minerva Punjab FC has officially confirmed the clearance of all salary dues to their players ahead of playing Jamshedpur FC in the Super Cup on Monday, April 2 night.

Despite lifting a surprise I-League title on March 8, news came out of the club that players had not been paid for months despite their great performances and achievements on the field.

Minerva Punjab FC director Henna Bajaj had earlier stated, “Yes, it’s true that some of the players did not get their salaries for the last month. We will clear the dues as soon as we can. We are targeting the end of next week. We have some dues from AIFF and as soon as we get that, we will move ahead with payment of players.”

While another rumour made the rounds that Ranjit Bajaj and his wife Henna Bajaj were off to the Maldives on vacation leaving the players in the lurch which she denied saying that “we are not going to Maldives. We are staying here and our priority is to clear the dues of the players.”

The Chandigarh-based team today finally confirmed that all dues of their Indian and foreign players had been paid as promised, furthermore the club had announced huge bonuses to all the players of the title winning squad including the officials ranging fron $ 1.000 to $ 6.000.

Some players of Minerva Punjab FC confirmed off the record that they had been paid.

After clearing their off-field issues, Minerva Punjab FC can now once more focus on the field of play as they take on Jamshedpur FC in their Super Cup pre-quarterfinal match in Bhubaneswar tonight.
