Minerva Punjab FC to jointly organise first ever Chandigarh Youth League!

North India’s lone I-league club Minerva Punjab FC are organising the first edition of Chandigarh Youth League from May 27 to June 11, 2017 in association with Mission IX Million and the Chandigarh Football Association.

The Chandigarh Youth League will be an annual affair and aims at getting more and more kids to play football and everyone is welcome to join in the football fun. The league will be conducted in various age groups – 7-8 years, 9-12 years, 13-15 years, besides 16 years and above. Boys and girls are welcome to register their teams or as individuals. Individuals will be clubbed together into teams after assessment done on basis of skill level, age, height, etc. by officials.

The CYL will be played in 7-A-Side format for 13 years and above age group, smaller age groups will play fun and interactive 4v4 or 5v5 games. Each team will be coached and mentored by AFC ad UEFA licensed coaches of Minerva Punjab FC. All participants will get to play a minimum of six games during the two week long tournament and will be provided with playing kits, sippers and participation certificates.

The winning team and Best Player, Defender, Midfielder, Striker and Goalkeeper of the tournament will get exciting prizes like Nike Gift Vouchers, Smart Phones and Cash Prizes. Apart from these prizes, the best players stand a chance to be selected for various age group Minerva Punjab FC teams that are participating in the top division of their respective age groups.

Henna Singh, Director of Minerva Punjab FC said, “Minerva Punjab FC has taken up many initiatives this summer to promote the sport of football in the region including summer camps, grassroots festivals and this Chandigarh Youth League. The League is great way for anyone wanting to play the sport to come forward. The idea of the league is to create a fun filled summer football festival where there is something for everyone. While the kids will be busy playing, parents and veterans will be encouraged to participate in fun games and interactive activities making a great outing for the whole family.”

Surender Kumar, Honorary Secretary of the Chandigarh Football Association said, “The only way to progress in football is to make everyone fall in love with the game and encourage more and more players to come forward. The Chandigarh youth league will be an annual affair to look forward to for children, parents and other football lovers of the region. We are working hard to popularise the league and make people aware of it. We have approached many schools around Chandigarh who are eager to enter their teams for the league.”

The Chandigarh Youth League will be conducted at the Sector 17 Football Stadium in Chandigarh and registration charges are Rs. 2,000 per player, last date for registrations is May 20, 2017.
