mpl-chhinga-veng-fc-dinthar-fcThe afternoon fixture of round 13 saw newcomers Chhinga Veng FC dispose of a resurgent Dinthar FC in a thrilling encounter. The result sets up Chhinga Veng FC for a clash against Chanmari West FC in the final round for the final place in the semifinals.

The two semifinal aspirants started the game with an intent for all three points. In an even first half Dinthar FC broke the deadloack on the 40th minute when Cho Tsering Lepcha pounced after being set-up by leftback Zual from a corner.

Chhinga Veng also had chances through Dawngtea and a dangerous freekick from Paul Ramfangzauva. They equalised three minutes into half time when substitute hitman Lalkhawpuimawia returned from injury and headed in a Felpuia cross in clinical fashion.

Chhinga Veng FC then took the lead soon after when former Dinthar FC fullback Ronald Zothanzama struck a beautiful freekick past goalkeeper Joseph from 35 yards out.

The second half saw plenty of back and forth action with both sides spurning chances to score. Things got worse for Dinthar FC after Lalbiaknia picked up a second booking, forcing his team down to 10 men. The task of coming back subsequently proved too much for Dinthar FC.

The Man of the Match award was given to Chhinga Veng FC’s centerback Emmanuel Chigozie for marshalling his defence so well.
