Mizoram Premier League: Chhinga Veng FC seal points with late flurry!

Mizoram Premier League leaders Chhinga Veng FC came out on top against Dinthar FC courtesy of late goals from Malsawmfela and Laldampuia.

A bright start from the MFA Super Cup and I-Day champions – who are still undefeated in all competitions this season – saw them enjoying possession and control the tempo of the game.

But it was Dinthar FC who threatened first when forward Jackson Victor Ogheneochuko missed a good chance.

Chhinga Veng FC gradually asserted themselves in the game and had several chances to score through Malsawmfela, R. Malsawmtluanga and Lalkhawpuimawia.

They eventually took the lead in the second half after a handball inside the box from Dinthar FC defender Nunpuia resulted in a penalty. Striker Malsawmfela scored from the resulting spot kick. But it wasn’t smooth sailing after going a goal up for Chhinga Veng FC as Dinthar FC looked to claw their war back into the game.

Lalnunsanga and David went close while Jackson proved to be a handful for Chhinga Veng FC’s backline. They were rewarded for their efforts in the 81st minute when a cross from David was inadvertently put into the back of his own net by Chhinga Veng FC’s captain Lalrinchhana.

Dinthar FC’s equaliser boosted their morale but they could not protect their goal from relentless Chhinga Veng FC as they conceded two late goals inside four minutes. Malsawmfela grabbed his second in the 90th minute and substitute Laldampuia scored their third four minutes into added time.

Right back R. Laldinliana of Chhinga Veng FC was named man of the match.

Result
Chhinga Veng FC 3-1 Dinthar FC
(C: Malsawmfela 59′(p),90′, Laldampuia 90+4; D: Lalrinchhana Tochhawng [own goal] 81′)
