Mizoram Premier League: Dinthar FC grab three points in a thriller!

Former Mizoram Premier League champions Dinthar FC saw off a valiant challenge from Mizoram Police FC to register their first win in MPL6 with a 3-2 victory.

Both teams did not begin this campaign on a positive not and were both determined to register their first league win of the season.

Mizoram Police tested Dinthar FC goalkeeper early on with decent strikes from Lalsangbera and V. Laltanpuia. And they took the lead on the 17th minute after Dinthar FC’s defender Malsawma Chhangte handled the ball inside his own box. Lalramtharmawia stepped up and placed the ball into the net.

Dinthar FC stepped up their game after conceding and forward Jackson began to be a nuisance for Mizoram Police’s backline. And Biaknia missed a good opportunity as well. Dinthar FC finally got an equaliser right before halftime after Jackson broke Mizoram Police’s backline and Lalbiakhlua duly found the net.

With momentum on their side Dinthar FC began the second half on the front foot and took the lead on the 53rd minute through R. Lalthantluanga.

Dinthar FC then found their third on the 74th minute with Jackson grabbing a very well deserved goal.

Mizoram Police were given a glimpse of hope late on when the won a penalty for the second time after Nunpuia had handled the ball. Lalramtharmawia converted the spot kick but it was not enough to earn a point despite their best efforts.

Dinthar FC’s Jackson was deservedly named man of the match.

Dinthar are on four points, Mizoram Police remained at the bottom with a solitary point.
