Mizoram Premier League: All square in top of the table clash!

mpl-chanmari-fc-bethlehem-vengthlang-fcLeague leaders Bethlehem Vengthlang FC and second placed Chanmari FC battled to a 1-1 draw in an evenly contested affair courtesy of goals from brothers – Malsawmfela and his younger sibling Mawitea.

Chanmari FC saw the first chance of the match when striker Malsawmfela tested goalkeeper Mala, which the custodian had no problem dealing with. BVT also came close with Apuia’s shot going just wide.

A sturdy BVT defence saw Chanmari’s attacking duo Sawmfela and Fela Zote quite subdued during the first half although winger Mabiaa looked lively. BVT then took the lead when striker Mawitea converted a cross from Tuka Hauhnar.

The second half saw a delay in the game due to fog but when play commenced, it was Chanmari FC who began on the front foot looking for an equaliser. Winger Mabiaa and fullback Thomas both had efforts saved by Mala.

BVT’s backline, which performed admirably in the first half looked susceptible against an improved Chanmari FC. Fela Zote had an effort graze the crossbar.

Mawitea came close again for BVT FC but Chanmari FC ultimately equalised right at the end with Malsawmfela belting in a cracker past Mala.

Bethlehem Vengthlang FC’s centerback Lalhlimpuia was named the Man of the Match.
