Mizoram Premier League: Unlucky Chhinga Veng FC come up short against Aizawl FC!

mpl-aizawl-fc-chhinga-veng-fcDay Two of Round 8 saw newcomers Chhinga Veng FC squaring off against champions Aizawl FC in an evenly contested affair. A beautifully struck effort from Ricky Lallawmawma in the 45th minute proved to be the difference between the two sides.

It was evident from the off, that both teams came into the match intent on three points. Both sides playing with intensity rather than fluidity. Aizawl FC got a chance through Bright Mends which he struck over the crossbar. For all their hustle, Chhinga Veng FC struggled to find any rhythm in their play to conjure up a clear chance. But on the opposite end, centerback Emma looked assured and dominating for the newcomers.

Chhinga Veng FC finally paid for their error-strewn first half on the brink of halftime as Aizawl FC struck on the counter and Ricky scored from a gem of a long range effort.

The newcomers, eager for an equaliser started the second period brightly with captain Joseph and Khawpuimawia combining well only for the latter to see his effort come close.

Aizawl FC found it increasingly hard to cope with a resurgent Chhinga Veng. But in a similar story to the first half, Chhinga Veng struggled to pose a real threat in the final third. Aizawl FC on the other hand, found space on the counter-attack on a couple of occasions with winger Brandon coming close near full-time.

Goalscorer Ricky Lallawmawma was duly chosen as Man of the Match.
