Mizoram trash Tripura 6-0 in 71st Santosh Trophy – Northeast Zone qualifiers!

Mizoram kicked off the Northeast Zone qualifiers of the 71st Santosh Trophy with a 6-0 trashing of Tripura in a Group B match at the Polo ground in Shillong earlier today.

Mizoram would control the match from the start but only in the 37th minute Lalrammawia gave them the lead. It would stay 1-0 for Mizoram at the half time break.

Things changed after the break with Mizoram running riot. It was again Lalrammawia who made it 2-0 in the 50th minute. A double strike from Lalmuanzova in the 60th and 61st minute sealed the win, but Mizoram were not finished yet. Another double strike, this time from Lalbiakhlua in the 78th and 82nd minute gave the former champions a 6-0 lead, which would stay this way until the final whistle.

In the next encounter Tripura face Manipur on Friday, January 6 and then in the final Group B game Mizoram will have to face neighbours Mizoram.
