Mohammedan Sporting’s Eze Kingsley: With every game that passes team is more confident!

Mohammedan Sporting Club have had a good start to the 2020/21 season of the I-League. The Black Panthers are unbeaten in the league so far and after six games and have only conceded three goals.

Only two games in the six that have seen the Panthers having a goal scored against them. One man who has been at the centre of making sure that the goals are not scored is skipper Eze Kingsley. The Nigerian spoke about the good start that Mohammedan Sporting is enjoying and said that, “I think we have a team that all helps in marking without the ball, that makes things easier for the defenders. At the end of the day, it is a team collective to defend and we have been doing that and it is our mission to make sure we continue.”

Kingsley has formed a formidable partnership at the back with Asheer Akhtar. The former East Bengal defender joined the Black Panthers ahead of the 2020/21 I-League qualifiers and has shown the qualities why the management signed him.

“I have never played with him (Asheer) before, but with each game that passes our combination gets better, he is a player with great potential,” said Kingsley about his partner.

With the busy schedule of the month of February, the defence will be hoping to maintain the streak of not conceding any goals and to keep getting maximum points and Kingsley emphasised that “With every game that passes, I feel that the team is more confident. The victory against Gokulam Kerala brought confidence and for us, it is to go out there and play well for the club and the supporters who are at home and can’t be at the stadium.”
