Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan continued their perfect start into their Calcutta Football League – Premier Division ‘A’ campaign with another 1-0 victory over Bhowanipore FC at the floodlit Mohun Bagan ground on the Kolkata Maidans.
The Mariners had the perfect start as Thangjam Saran Singh gave them the lead in the seventh minute off an Azharuddin Mallick pass. After taking the lead Mohun Bagan continued to control affairs, but the few chances they had were either wasted or they were denied by Bhowanipore FC.
After the break Haroon Amiri made his Mohun Bagan debut, having a shot on the woodwork and a good header cleared was all to show off in his first appearance. Later in the second half, Bhowanipore FC looked threatening but it stayed 1-0 in favour of the Mariners.
With the win Mohun Bagan moved back to the top of the standings with 12 points from four matches, but only due to a superior goal difference over their archrivals East Bengal.
