Mohun Bagan SG fire Juan Ferrando, Habas takes over!

Mohun Bagan Super Giant have announced the sacking of their head coach Juan Ferrando due to poor results in recent weeks with the Mariners technical director Antonio Lopez Habas taking over for the upcoming Kalinga Super Cup.

Juan Ferrando had joined the club in December 2020 from FC Goa to replace Habas, who now again replaces him three years later.

Under Juan Ferrando, Mohun Bagan SG as ATK Mohun Bagan had won the 2022/23 Indian Super League title and his team followed it up with a 2023 Durand Cup title.

But questions in regard to Juan Ferrando as a coach have been around the club, their fans and amongst the media.

With the club aiming to win the AFC Cup, but being eliminated from the group stage, conceding five goals to Odisha FC in the AFC Cup, conceding four goals to FC Goa in the ISL, Juan Ferrando’s time seemed over and now it is come to an end.

Mohun Bagan Super Giant in a statement said, “Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s head coach is changing. Juan Fernando is stepping aside. Antonio Lopez Habas is taking charge of the Green and Maroon in his place. He will handle the duties of the head coach for the upcoming Super Cup. Thanks to Juan Ferrando for winning the ISL (2022-23 season) and this year’s Durand Cup(sic.).”
