Mohun Bagan SG scrape past Hyderabad FC in Kalinga Super Cup!

The young guns from Hyderabad FC put on yet another fighting display in the Kalinga Super Cup 2024 at the Kalinga Stadium on Sunday.

Ramhlunchhunga (7′) scored early for the visitors who held on to their lead till the dying minutes. But a Jeremy own goal (88′) and a Dimitri Petratos penalty (90+8′) left Hyderabad with nothing to show for a valiant effort.

The backline of Alex Saji, Sajad Hussain, Nim Dorjee Tamang and Manoj Mohamad fought hard for most of the game. But an injury to the left-back and a strange red card to Nim meant that Hyderabad finished the game with a makeshift backline that cost them the game.

Mark Zothanpuia and Hitesh Sharma were the standouts, running the game in the midfield while Makan Chothe and Abdul Rabeeh put in a shift but were unlucky to end up on the losing side.

This loss leaves Hyderabad with no chance of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Super Cup. But they will look to finish their campaign on a high in what will be the first competitive derby from the Telugu states as The Nawabs take on I-League side Sreenidi Deccan FC in Pitch 1 of the Kalinga Stadium on Friday, January 19.
