Moritz-Broni Kwarteng joins VfL Bochum!

VfL Bochum 1848 have signed Moritz-Broni Kwarteng. The attacking all-rounder moves from 1.FC Magdeburg to Castroper Straße.

Kwarteng has made 43 competitive appearances for FCM, scoring 23 goals. The 25-year-old has celebrated his greatest sporting successes with 1.FC Magdeburg so far: third division champions and promotion to the Bundesliga 2 in the 2021/22 season, as well as state cup winner in Saxony-Anhalt. In the 2022/23 season, which has just ended, the German-Ghanaian has set a personal season record with ten goals and three assists in 29 second division games. Kwarteng has signed a contract with VfL until June 30, 2027.

Born in Stuttgart, he was trained at VfB Stuttgart, RB Leipzig and TSG Hoffenheim, among others. He took his first steps in professional football with the second team of Hamburger SV (69 games) and also played for the first team in the Bundesliga 2. He played a total of 72 games for HSV and collected 27 scorer points there. Kwarteng’s breakthrough finally came in Magdeburg.

“We’ve been working intensively to sign Moritz-Broni Kwarteng for a long time, so it’s all the nicer that the transfer has now been completed,” said Marc Lettau, technical director of VfL Bochum 1848. “He can be used in a variety of ways in attack, has a strong box-to-box play and is an additional invigorating element for our game due to his dynamism and speed.”

Moritz-Broni Kwarteng is looking forward to “many exciting impressions: the new team, the city and of course the stadium and the fans. The Bundesliga is a big challenge that triggers huge enthusiasm in me. I’ll do everything I can to be successful there with VfL Bochum.”
