Morocco’s Nesryne El Chad wins CAF Women’s Young Player of the Year prize!

Moroccan prodigy Nesryne El Chad continues to shatter records, winning the inaugural CAF Women’s Young Player of the Year award on Monday.

The 20-year-old defender saw off fellow nominees Comfort Yeboah of Ghana and Nigeria’s Deborah Abiodun for the groundbreaking honour at the CAF Awards in Marrakech.

Despite her tender age, El Chad has already cemented herself as one of Africa’s brightest talents after a stellar 2023.

El Chad started all of Morocco’s historic Women’s World Cup campaign, as the Atlas Lionesses reached the last 16.

The talented teenager’s communication and leadership qualities also saw her handed the captain’s armband on multiple occasions.

She already held the record as Morocco and Women’s Africa Cup of Nations’ youngest-ever scorer after netting aged 19 years and 114 days in July.

With the football world at her feet, the future remains brightly exciting for the tenacious young trailblazer.
