How the Mothers of our India U-16 boys support them in different ways!

india-u-16-aman-chetriBoys’ telepathy with their mothers can neither be expressed in words nor can it be written in black & white – it can only be realised.

Indian mothers and their fasting isn’t something which is unheard of but even as the U-16 boys play in the AFC U-16 Championship India 2016, AIFF Media found out that a certain mother of a kid has been fasting for more than twenty-five days! No, it’s not any melodramatic Bollywood movie, but a hardcore reality.

Since their son got injured severely in Germany, Aimol’s mother has been fasting back home. On being asked Aimol’s father informed, “Jab tak humhara beta thik se chal payega, tab hi unki mummy apni brattodegi” (When our son will walk properly, his mother will have her first meal).

Aimol had broken his leg during the last practice match in Germany and has had 49 stitches. He is on the road to recovery and presently walking on crutches.

Yeh job sab ladke hai, sab humhara beta jaisa hai. Sab ek doosre ka bhai hai. Puri saal sab ek saath rehtahai. Hum sab unke liye pray karte hai. Hamesha.” (All these boys are like our sons. They stay together all round the year. We always pray for them).

Abhi toh sab lok inke bare me baat kar rahe hai. Lekin hum log nahi chahta ki bacche distracted ho jai (Now everyone is speaking about these kids. But we don’t want them to get distracted.)”

Such are small pieces of anecdotes which leave you aghast, bind the whole Nation together on their pursuit of the holy grail of Football.

Seema Chetri, Aman’s (Chetri) mother states that she too fasts on Mondays. “I’m a devotee of Lord Shiva. Every Monday, I fast. But I don’t do that for my son – rather I do that for the entire Team. They are all like my sons – one family.”

“It’s not about Aman or any other boy. AIFF and Nicolai-Sir deserve due credit for making them worthy enough,” she adds.

“Everyone is talking about these guys now. But it’s just the beginning. As parents, we want them not to get distracted. But unless AIFF and Nicolai-Sir had backed them, they could not have even gone this far,” she quips.

“Every night, before our dinner, we pray to the Almighty for the boys, for the Coach and his Team. Unless AIFF had given the boys the chance, they might have still been kicking the ball randomly somewhere back in our village,” she took a deep breath after talking at a stretch. Few drops of tears could not be hidden either.
