Mumbai City FC aim for win against Bengaluru FC!

After having sealed their spot in the semifinals of ISL-7, the Islanders will now be looking to strengthen their bid for the top spot in the league. Mumbai City FC return to league action after a week and will square off against Bengaluru FC on Monday, February 15 at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim.

The Islanders will be looking to bounce back from the heartache of a 3-3 draw last time out against FC Goa. Mumbai City’s 2-0 advantage was slashed out by the Gaurs but the three points seemed to be in the bag after Rowllin Borges guided Hugo Boumous’ free-kick in the 90th minute only for a momentary lapse in concentration that allowed Ishan Pandita to draw the game 3-3 in the final action of the game.

Bengaluru FC recently announced the appointment of Marco Pezzaiuoli as their new head coach who will take charge only after the ISL ahead of their AFC Cup campaign. The Blues, under the tutelage of interim coach Naushad Moosa, have managed one win in their last 11 outings in the league and recently succumbed to a 2-0 loss against ATK Mohun Bagan.

With Mumbai City FC leading the pack by a solitary point on the table, Sergio Lobera has reiterated that the Islanders’ fate rests in their own hands with four crucial games remaining in the league stage.

Mumbai City FC head coach Sergio Lobera has confirmed that the entire squad is available for selection with the exception of Hugo Boumous who will serve a suspension.

Bengaluru FC will be without the services of former Islander Pratik Chaudhari, who will serve a suspension following his fourth yellow card. Rahul Bheke, who went off in their last game, joins Juanan on the treatment table for the Blues who will be out for the rest of the campaign.

Mumbai City FC head coach Sergio Lobera said, “The situation is in our hands, it depends on us. We cannot waste time looking at things that are not dependant on us. We have done a great job so far and if we continue to do well, we will finish top.”

Mumbai City FC winger Cy Goddard added, “Everyone’s concentrated now considering it’s crunch time. We’re excited to be in a position where we are fighting for the top spot and the title and we’re looking forward to it.”

The game will kick off at 7.30pm IST and will be broadcast on the Star Sports Network, Disney+ Hotstar and Jio TV for all viewers in India.
