Naeher, Lawrence, Yasmim headline 2024 CONCACAF W Gold Cup Semifinals Best XI!

The semifinals of the 2024 CONCACAF W Gold Cup are now complete following Wednesday night’s results.

There were many excellent individual performances over the course of the weekend, yet these 11 players stood out the most at their respective positions.

Goalkeeper

Alyssa Naeher, United States – Naeher was incredible when it mattered the very most in making three saves in the 3-1 penalty shootout win for the U.S. against Canada. She also scored one of the U.S. shootout goals.

Defenders

Greta Espinoza, Mexico – Espinoza had a steal and completed 84 percent of her passes in Mexico’s 3-0 defeat to Brazil.

Naomi Girma, United States – Girma was a solid presence in the back for the U.S., as she made a steal and completed 15 passes on the night.

Antonia, Brazil – Antonia fired home the second goal for Brazil and would finish the night by completing 96 percent of her passes.

Midfielders

Yasmim, Brazil – Yasmim’s clever backheeled shot in front of goal earned Brazil their third score of the night, completing a performance in which she completed 48 of 50 passes.

Ashley Lawrence, Canada – Lawrence was in the middle of every positive movement for Canada and she finished the night with an assist and three steals, while completing 26 passes.

Lindsey Horan, United States – Horan showed leadership from start to finish in the U.S. midfield, with four steals, three shots while completing 72 percent of her passes.

Adriana, Brazil – Adriana opened the scoring for Brazil as part of a fantastic performance. In addition to her score, she completed 63 of 67 passes, chipped in an assist and had four shots.

Forwards

Sophia Smith, United States – Smith was a super sub, entering the fray in the second half, scoring a key U.S. goal in extra time and then converting her penalty in the shootout.

Jaedyn Shaw, United States – The 19-year-old continues to amaze, as she scored her fourth goal of the tournament when she opened the scoring for the U.S. She also finished with three steals.

Adriana Leon, Canada – Leon notched her sixth goal of the tournament when the pressure was at its highest, converting a penalty on the final kick of extra time. She also had three steals.
