New AFC Certificate in Football Leadership set to transform Asian football ecosystem!

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s ambitions to expand and strengthen the purposeful programmes under its landmark AFC Academic Centre of Excellence (ACE) marked a significant milestone today with the launch of its latest initiative – the AFC Certificate in Football Leadership (ACFL).

Designed solely by the AFC, the ACFL is a transformative six-month online learning journey that accelerates leadership capabilities for decision-makers from the AFC’s Member Associations (MAs), Regional Associations (RAs) and the larger Asian football community.

The programme comprises six modules aimed at advancing the development of leaders in football with the perspective, skill sets, and tools required to cultivate astute decision-making in the ever-evolving football landscape.

The six modules include: the Principles of Leadership, Influence and Impact through Communication, Organisational Design and Development in Football, Environmental, Social and Governance in Football, A Leader’s Perspective of Football Development & Performance as well as Managing Projects in Football.

Elaborating on the ground-breaking programme, AFC General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John, said: “A model Confederation requires strong MAs and RAs to convert our collective ambitions, as one united Asian football family, into reality. The ACFL is curated for this purpose, considering the growing standards, expectations and needs of Asian football.

“Through the delivery of exclusive and meaningful content as well as critical discourse, participants will explore and construct strategies to overcome challenges and leverage on the opportunities in the football ecosystem with their new skills and frameworks, which will also help implement change and initiate growth within their organisations.

“Above all, the ACFL reinforces the AFC’s promise, through its Vision and Mission, to provide dedicated and tailormade solutions to further strengthen the capabilities of our MAs, RAs and the larger Asian football family.”

The ACFL also aims to ensure that graduates are fully equipped with the fundamental leadership knowledge to manage circumstances astutely, direct their organisation’s resources for improved efficiency and the achievement of goals, provide clarity of purpose, motivate and guide their organisation in realising their mission statements.

At the same time, the programme seeks to guide participants by combining both theoretical sessions and hands-on activities, whilst examining real case studies and examples to elevate the decision-making capability of graduates across all functions from the front office to the pitch.

The ACFL represents the Confederation’s third initiative to be launched under the AFC ACE following the highly acclaimed AFC Football Management Certificate and the AFC Football Management Diploma.
