The Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) has signed an agreement with National Agriculture Research Institute (NARI) to build an K10-million PNGFA Education Centre in Tambul, Western Highlands.
PNGFA President John Kapi Natto said they are very grateful with the partnership with NARI, as this is part of PNGFA’s vision to build infrastructure throughout the country:
“We are looking for land in the highlands for sometimes and somehow, we have some understanding with Acting Director General of NARI Warea Orapa to have a sub-lease or lease where the world-class football facilities will be built in the highlands region.”
Orapa is keen to see that Tambul Education Centre will contribute immensely to football endeavours.
The PNGFA already has such facilities in Kimbe for New Guinea Islands region and in Lae for Momase, so now the next priority is to have a facility for the Southern region in Port Moresby.
Natto acknowledged the input by Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology Wesley Raminai, who is also the Minister for Sports, for the support in ensuring this signing took place.
The Tambul Education Centre will not only be used for high-altitude training for its representative team, but also by other sports who want to utilise it.
