The Chennaiyin FC Under-15 team lost by a 5-0 margin to Churchill Brothers SC in a Group C encounter in the U-15 Youth League for the Nike Premier Cup at the Utorda Sports Complex in Goa today.
The Chennaiyin FC U-15s started the better of the two sides and created a couple of decent chances in the opening few minutes. But with a quarter of the game gone, Churchill Brothers took the lead through a goal by Mackenzie Fernandes. And the scoreline stayed at 1-0 in favour of the Goan side at half-time.
In the second-half, Churchill Brothers dominated proceedings and doubled their lead through Mevan Shawn Dias on 53 minutes. And the same player completed his brace and made it 3-0 in the last quarter of the match, despite Chennaiyin FC’s best efforts to find a way back into the game. That was followed by two quickfire goals from Saideep Kishor and Aniket Chauvan to hand Churchill Brothers a 5-0 victory.
This concludes the Chennaiyin FC U15s’ campaign at the national level U-15 Youth League. But despite finishing bottom of the table in Group C, this was a memorable season for the Chennaiyin FC boys, who had made it to the final round of the Under-15 Youth League on their debut season after winning the Chennai zone unbeaten.
